Self-registration lets users sign up to Form LMS themselves, saving you time. You create a self-registration key and share the link with staff who need accounts.
✅ Before you start: You need the Admin role.
💡 Tip: Set up auto-enrolment rules alongside self-registration. Learners are then enrolled onto the correct courses automatically, with no extra admin work needed.

Create a self-registration key
- Go to Setup → Site settings.
- Select Sign-up and authentication.
- Self-registration is off by default. Click the toggle to enable it.
- Click Generate new key.
- Enter the following details:
- Key name: Give the key a descriptive name so it is easy to find later.
- Number of uses allowed: A key can be used up to 10,000 times.
- Expiry date: Set an expiry date if needed.
- Organisation units: Choose whether users with this key can access all organisation units or specific ones.
- Groups: Choose whether users with this key can access all groups, no groups, or specific groups.
- Set the key status to Active if you want to use it straight away. Otherwise, set it to Inactive and activate it later.
- Click Generate.
- Click the link icon to copy the registration link. Share this link with your users.
You can create multiple self-registration keys within a workspace. This lets you direct users to register in the right area of your organisation.
When a user receives the link, they follow it and fill in their details to create an account. For more information, see the Use a self-registration link guide.
